Some houses simply take my breath away. It does not happen often, but I have to share that this home simply does. I was holding an open house to introduce this wonderful home to my colleagues from other real estate firms, and the snow from the storm covered every inch of this three acre property. The south east light was tap dancing its way across almost every room of the house. It made me smile as I waited for the next agent to walk in the door. I could not believe how beautiful and peaceful it was. Jazz played in the background as I stared out the countless new windows of this completely renovated home built in 1768. I found myself lost in the untouched landscape, the horse barn and the paddocks. Split rail fences and open meadow views were all I could see as I gazed out of the kitchen window with the sink directly in front of me. I thought, this could have all looked exactly like this back in the day, when the house was built. The other homes in view and all of the homes on Spencer Brook Road are magnificent. Tasteful is the best way to describe this home and the neighboring properties. If you live in New England or specifically want to live in Concord, and appreciate history, time, and the feeling of peace that comes with wandering through a home of this period, this is the house to spend your life in. This is a “family home” that offers a campus where you can build a lifetime of memories. A first floor primary suite ensures that one can live in this home for as long as possible. It is easy to imagine children and grandchildren around, playing in the fields or running through the house. For those with teenagers, the privacy this home affords them when they need the space, as well as the family gathering rooms for when everyone is together, will be remembered for years to come. This beautiful home sets the standard. It will also keep the kids coming back home as they embark on their own path of life.
Renovated from top to bottom and reimagined by a highly sought-after Concord architecture firm specializing in homes of this period, you can complete a minor amount of final updates to suit your specific taste. That said, I could personally live in this home exactly as it stands. However, I would repurpose the horse barn to buy a few vintage cars to tinker with. I rode a horse once and it decided to go on a run without my permission. I bounced so hard on the saddle that I lost my breath. That horse didn’t stop when I begged it to mentally, as I couldn’t speak due to a lack of breath. There will be no horses in my future. Your future could include horses with this home. I would fill that barn with vintage cars and motorcycles if I could. Retirement might allow me to tinker in a barn like the one at 110 Spencer Brook. Imagine that…tinkering or having time to tinker. I’m not there yet and my friends would tell you that I love my work too much to ever stop. Standing in a house like this with the jazz playing as the backdrop to my thoughts makes my mind wander and makes me think that someday I will tinker.
4,700 square feet of the best New England living space imaginable with only 387 square feet of that in the basement. Even the home’s basement and its systems are outstanding. It offers five bedrooms (though six rooms for sleeping are available) and four full bathrooms with one formal half bath. This home truly has it all. I cannot even begin to describe each room. The character on display exudes warmth everywhere your eyes land and the half dozen fireplaces are thoughtfully spread throughout the home. In every direction, both inside and outside of the home, there are silhouettes filled with the type of character that movie sets are made of. It will fill you with a feeling of joy and wonder. I want to be very clear here, I am not exaggerating in any way. This place is exactly as described here.
For those who follow feng shui, please know this home has it. For those of you who dream big and want a homestead in New England, this may very well be it. For those seeking understated elegance and spectacular taste in lodging, this place cannot be topped, especially in this price range.
Please make an appointment to see this home or come to an open house if it is within your price range. The stewardship here is excellent. Whether you are buying a vintage home or shopping for new construction, this property is worth seeing. It is simply that special.
