This new construction home is an amazing example of the small house movement. The total square footage is 1,920, with 400 square feet of that below grade. The design certainly proves that good things can come in small packages! Nothing about this modern masterpiece feels small. The ceiling height in every space is noticeably high. This style of home is rarely built in our community. That said, I can think of at least nine homes by this designer that have been built in Concord. They exist on Main Street, Harrington Avenue, Off Harrington Avenue, Cottage Lane, Hubbard Street extension, Laurel 117, Sudbury Road and now Seymour. I was the Broker for the sale of each of these homes and consider myself a well studied expert on them. All the homes sold at a premium price per square foot because they possess a museum-like quality that is difficult to reproduce. In each case the homes are experienced as works of art. That is the absolute truth. As you walk through them it is evident that a well studied eye and an active imagination were at work when creating the designs. In each case, the homes designed consider their specific environment and the surrounding land attributes. Although the same designer was clearly involved, the homes are radically different and stand as individual modern art objects.
56 Seymour is another home that adds to the collection. Walking through this home immediately brings a feeling of peace and serenity. The space clears the mind, room by room as you experience design features like the glass walls that allow beams of sunlight to radiate through and enhance the architecture in a way that is tough to describe here. If you come see the property, I hope it is a sunny day. I spent time at this home last week and just sat on the couch to take it all in. I didn’t want to leave. It was a beautiful interior with the light dancing through the loft-like living room. I believe the ceilings soar to about 15 or 16 feet in that space, making it feel like a warehouse loft from my days in N.Y.C. Another unique attribute is that it is formally a one bedroom home (though additional guest sleeping space exists) and I cannot think of another home built in Concord that shares this feature. The two finished floors certainly offer ample space to move around and the house definitely feels like it has more square footage then what’s on paper.
When entering the front door you get to enjoy a significant lobby that offers a direct view of the staircase which is a beautiful piece of design all on its own. This floor has the media room, laundry closet and a full bath as well as some built-in sleeping/guest space. In fact, this floor can easily convert to its own private quarters completely separate from the main living floor. When you walk up the light filled stairwell you land in a wide open and dramatic room that includes the living room, dining room, kitchen, and guest bath. It also offers the primary suite which has a luxury hotel style bathroom that includes a steam room shower. Modern design and a feeling of luxury throughout define the overall experience. The attached two car garage was also designed to easily function as an art studio should that be of interest. The deed includes an easement to White Pond so if purchased you can enjoy swimming, kayaking and cold plunging to your hearts content.
Feel free to contact me or one of my teams buyer agents if you would like to see this property. I will see you there and show you a one-of-a-kind piece of art that could be your next home. Form and function merge in a way that is truly unique in this lovely new construction offering.
